Obituary

Holden, MA - Robert E. Holm, 96, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, after a brief illness at UMass Medical Center - Memorial Campus surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 57 years, Ethel P. (Andersen) Holm, predeceased him. He leaves a son Donald R. Holm and his wife Jean of Brewster; a daughter, Carol E. LaFreniere and her husband Richard of Medfield; and three loving grandchildren, Jeff, Julie, and Keith LaFreniere. He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Holm.

Bob was born in Worcester, son of the late Eskel and Ellen (Anderson) Holm. He graduated from Commerce High School, received his Bachelors and Masters' Degrees from Fitchburg State College. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Holm was a teacher in the Worcester School System for 34 years. He was a member of the National Teacher's Association, the Worcester County Teacher's Association, and Epsilon Pi Tao Fraternity. He was a very active member of Salem Covenant Church in Worcester, where he served in many capacities. He enjoyed woodworking, carving, gardening, and traveling.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in The Old Swedish Cemetery, Webster St. Worcester. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Salem Covenant Church, 215 East Mountain St., Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory may be made to Salem Covenant Church.
