Obituary

Joan M. (O’Connell) Mondeau, age 79, of East Bridgewater, died September 25, 2016 at Good Samaritan Medical Center following a brief illness. Joan was born in Brockton, daughter of the late Robert and Helena (Donahue) O’Connell. Raised and educated in Brockton, Joan was a graduate of Brockton High School. For over 50 years she had been a resident of East Bridgewater. Joan had been employed by New England Telephone and Foxboro Companies, waitressed at Town Line and the Canoe Club and retired as a Screen Printer from Hub Pen in Braintree. She had been a longtime member of the Crazy Eights Club and was an avid fan of Celtic Thunder.

Joan is survived by her six children Susan Mulvihill and her husband James of Raynham, William Mondeau and his partner Louis Toures of East Bridgewater, Carol Mondeau and her husband Paul MacNeil of West Bridgewater, Donna Fregoe and her husband Shane of East Bridgewater, Robert Mondeau and his wife Kim of Bridgewater and Michael Mondeau and his fianceé Colleen Goddard of East Bridgewater; eight grandchildren, James and his fiancée Jessica, Andrew, Gerard and his wife Brittany, D.J. , Taila, Joseph, Lauren and Jessica; and two great grandchildren Charlotte and Hunter. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Joan was the sister of the late Helen Brophy, Patricia Hussey, Kitty Stairs, Robert O’Connell, Jr, John and William O’Connell, Claire DeLorenzo, Alice Fowler, Louise Moore-Taylor and Grace Smith.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9am for a funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
