Melvin Emitt Corbin, 57, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Mr. Corbin will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends Friday, July 8, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born February 3, 1959 in Atlanta, Mr. Corbin was the son of Emitt Paul Corbin and Wanda Bell Smith Corbin of Zebulon. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to fish with his daughters and work in the pine straw fields. He spent over 25 years driving “big trucks”, a passion that he always talked about even after his retirement, and was a small business owner over the years. He loved NASCAR and would always be cheering on the number 24, even when he was losing.
Mr. Corbin was a family man who loved his wife and all five of his children. He enjoyed spending time with his family and seeing his siblings any chance that he had. Besides his family he had many that he was proud to call friends and he loved to talk to anyone that would lend an open ear, which meant that he never met a stranger. Mr. Corbin left behind a lifetime of good memories that will be cherished by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Corbin is survived by his wife, Tammy Dill Corbin of Tifton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Blake and Sara Askew of Sparks, Austin and Dagan Askew of Rebecca and Michael Corbin and his fiancé, Victoria Weaver of Athens; two daughters, Alexis Corbin and Morgan Corbin, both of Tifton; one brother, Randy Corbin of Concord; three sisters, Deborah Hayes of McDonough, Vickie Escarsega of Lewisville, Texas and Rhonda Harwell of Zebulon; and a granddaughter, Caroline Askew.
