Gilford------Robert "Bob" James Henderson Jr. 71, of Gilford, NH, formerly of Lynnfield, MA died unexpectedly Sunday, June 5, 2016 at his home.
Bob was born February 13, 1945 in Boston, MA. He was the son of the late Robert J. Henderson Sr. and Edith (Knowles) Henderson. He was a career firefighter, having joined the Lynnfield Fire Department in Lynnfield, MA when he was 16 years old. After retiring in 1999 he followed his passion for firefighting and volunteered for the Lee Fire Department in Lee, NH. He was also on call for many years for Gilford Fire Department in Gilford, NH. Robert also recently worked for the Belknap County Sheriff’s Department and Meadowbrook.
Bob enjoyed spending his summers at Lake Shore Park until his retirement when he made it his permanent home. He was a kind and caring man who would do anything to help anyone. Bob also enjoyed music, trivia, and traveling. Above all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marilyn (Chase) Henderson of Gilford, his daughter Traci Burgess and her husband Frank of Peabody, MA, his son Scott Robert Henderson and his wife, Jennifer of Gilford, NH. He also had five grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey Burgess and Renee, Alex and Cali Henderson, who he loved more than anything.
Calling Hours will be held, Friday, June 10, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, using the Carriage House entrance.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford, NH 03249.
Burial will take place in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford.
