Phyllis E. (Gaboury) Poole, 92, a lifelong resident of Worcester entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, May 11th in CareOne at Millbury. Her husband of 53 years, Forrest R. Poole died in 1995.
She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; sons, Philip A. Poole and his wife, Janice of Fairfax, VA, Robert A. Poole and his wife, Linda of Goffstown, NH, and Rodney M. Poole and his wife, Judy of Hickory, NC; daughters, Priscilla A. Platts of Worcester and Phyllis P. Rutter and her husband, William of Spencerport, NY; six grandchildren, Andrew Rutter, Jocelyn Danieluk and her husband, Craig, Zachary Platts, Ryan Platts and his wife, Brenda, Kelsey and Nathan Poole; four great grandchildren, Colton and Madison Danieluk and Cole and Connor Platts; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Forrest R. Poole and a sister, Irene Green.
Phyllis was born in Worcester the daughter of Arthur and Mederise (LaBounty) Gaboury and attended South High School. In February 1942 Phyllis married Forrest and together they were blessed with six children. A loving and devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed raising her family and supporting her husband’s career. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and an active PTO member at New Ludlow School. She was an avid reader, Red Sox fan and enjoyed gardening. Phyllis enjoyed bowling at Auburn Ten Pin for 42 years with the Sterling Stars.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, May 16th from 10:00 until 10:45 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street followed by her funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church Outreach Program, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
