Obituary

Ludlow - Juliette (Arsenault) Piucci died peacefully on March 12, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 4, 1922, in Waterbury, Connecticut. The daughter of Ulric and Alice (Vachon) Arsenault, she was raised in Southbridge, Massachusetts, where she attended St. Joan of Arc Elementary School and Mary Wells High School, and was later employed at the American Optical Company.

Juliette married Vincent Piucci in 1948, and they moved to Paxton, Massachusetts, where they raised their family. Juliette was active with Brownies, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, the PTA, and the Paxton Woman's Club, which she served as President. She also served as President of the Past Presidents of Massachusetts Women’s Clubs, and was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Worcester YWCA.

Upon her retirement, Juliette and her husband moved to Sarasota, Florida, where they were members of the Meadows Country Club, and where for many years golf and travel were among their favorite activities. Her husband predeceased her in 2002, after 54 years of marriage. Juliette returned to Massachusetts and spent her last years at Keystone Commons in Ludlow.

She was predeceased by her five brothers, Alfred, Amedee, Emile, Albert and Roland, and one sister, Roseanna Larochelle. She is survived by two sisters, Doris Dobbins of Worcester and Jeannette Reopel of Ludlow. She leaves two daughters, Linda Bessette and her husband James of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Joanna Piucci of New York City; and one son, Vincent Piucci and his wife Barbara of Oakham, Massachusetts. She also leaves three grandchildren, Walter Miska and his wife Christine of Ayer, Massachusetts, Richard Miska and his wife Heather of Southbury, Connecticut, and Emily Piucci and her partner Lloyd Higginson of Milford, New Hampshire; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alana, Hannah and Jason; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Church 191 Hubbard St. Ludlow, Massachusetts, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, followed by a reception for family and friends in the independent dining room at Keystone Commons, 460 West Street, Ludlow. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park in Sarasota, Florida. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Piucci may be made to Habitat for Humanity 268 Cold Spring Ave. west Springfield, MA 01086.
