Obituary

Boylston/Sugar Land, TX - Eileen Bessie Hanson, 91, of Sugar Land, TX, a longtime resident of Boylston, MA, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born July 23, 1924, in London, the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Evans.

Eileen met her “soul mate”, Theodore A. Hanson, while he was stationed in England with the 8th Air Force. They married on July 14, 1945 and settled in Boylston, MA.

Her eldest son, David Hanson and wife, Sylvia, granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Hanson, and great granddaughters, Janice and Alexandria Hanson, survive her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ted (2000), her son Roger Evans Hanson (1972), and grandson, Evans Alexander Hanson (2013).

Eileen worked as a personnel manager for R. H. Whites Department Store in Worcester, MA. She was a former member of the Boylston Congregational Church. She and her husband were both volunteers at the local “Meals-on-Wheels” program in their community.

She moved to Sugar Land, TX in 2003, where she lived with David and Sylvia. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land and a volunteer at the Houston Food Bank. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, knitting and oil painting.


A memorial service followed by burial of ashes in the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery will be held at the First Congregational Church of Boylston, 10 Church Road. In lieu of flowers, Eileen requested donations be made to the Boylston Fire Department, The Congregational Church in Boylston, MA, and/or the First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land, TX.
