Allan W. Covey, 70, of Derry, NH, passed away Thursday January 28, 2016 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, after a period of declining health. He was born August 2, 1945 in Haverhill, MA and was the son of the late Allan W. and Barbara M. (Hill) Covey. He was raised and educated in Lawrence, MA and had been a resident of Derry for the past 35 years.
Mr. Covey served our country during the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Airforce. He was employed for over 20 years as a shipper with Pacific Paper Co. of Lawrence and later as a school bus driver in Derry with Laidlaw Transportation. He was an avid cribbage player and lifetime member of the Alpine Club of Manchester. He also loved deep sea fishing and camping.
Members of the family include his wife of 33 years, Sarah G. (Floyd) Covey, daughter, Cindy L. Mahoney and her husband James, son, James L. Covey and his wife Annie, son, Robert E. Elsmore, daughter, Terri-Anne Elsmore and her fiancé, Brian Carette, and daughter, Kimberly G. Elsmore, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Milyaro.
After cremation, the family is planning services for a later date. Anyone wishing to make memorial donations in his honor, are invited to donate to the disabled veterans charity of their choice.
