Obituary

Roger H. Croteau, 68, of Uxbridge died Thursday at home. He was the loving husband of Janice L. (Cardarelli) Croteau. He was also the former husband and friend of Margaret (McNamara) Croteau of Uxbridge.
Born and raised in Woonsocket he was a son of Lucienne (Platiau) Croteau and the late Albert W. Croteau. He was a graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy Class of 1965 and received his golden diploma this past May.
Mr. Croteau served with the Rhode Island Air National Guard from 1966-1968 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He later went on to earn his degree from Johnson & Wales University with a Master’s in Accountancy.
Roger practiced as a certified public accountant for over 25 years serving a variety of clients in the greater Blackstone Valley area and beyond. He was a longtime member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. Roger was an active member of the Douglas congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Roger enjoyed dancing and walks on the beach as he was a part-time resident of Florida. He had a special appreciation for a smorgasbord of comedy. Although quiet and reserved at first once you got to know Roger his warm, friendly and loving manner became evident. He could find humor in any situation and his lighthearted and easy going personality was a true hallmark of his outlook on life.
Roger is survived by his wife Janice, his mother Lucienne, a son Steven Croteau and his wife, Nicole, of Uxbridge, and a daughter Ellen of Uxbridge. He was the step-father of Ronald Barry and his wife, Amy, of CT, Darlene Jones and her husband, Erskine, of Seekonk, and Sarah Barry and her companion, Leroy, of North Carolina. He was the brother of Jeanne Benoit and her husband, Leo, of FL, and Louise St. Jean and her husband, Gary, of Smithfield and two nephews of NY and VT. Rogers pride and joy was being pepere to his granddaughters Belle and Elise Croteau and that pride extended to his 7 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his aunts Irene Mayer and Annette Beaulieu.
Visiting hours are Monday from 4-8 pm in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be private.
A Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday December 5th at 2:00 pm at the Douglas Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 1054 Victory Hwy. North Smithfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the People First Food Pantry 19 Douglas St. Uxbridge, MA. 01569.
