Obituary

Evangelos “Angelo” Comitas, 78, of Worcester, died Friday, October 9th while visiting Greece. His wife of 49 years, Maria E. (Niforos) Comitas died in April, 2014. He is survived by his son, Loucas Comitas and his wife, Ekaterini; his daughter, Efstathia “Esther” Comitas both of Worcester; four sisters, Vasiliki Vasilopoulos of Greece, Athena Petsas of Worcester, Dimitra Kandiliotis and Eleni Boulieris and her husband, Panagiotis, all of Perth Amboy, NJ.; four grandchildren, Theodoros and Evangelos Manolatos and Evangelos and Christos Comitas; and many nephews and nieces. His brother, Loucas Comitas predeceased him.
He was born on the Island of Kalamos, Greece, the son of Argirios and Efstathia (Gianniotis) Comitas. Mr. Comitas had owned and operated E. Comitas Painting for over 60 years. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He found much happiness working in his vegetable garden and took great pride in tending to his lemon trees. Angelo especially cherished the time he spent with his four grandsons.
His funeral is Monday, October 26th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:30 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, October 25th from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Family Center Fund, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
