Obituary

Wayne J. Leshyk, 61, of San Juan Capistrano, CA, died April 20, 2005 at Boston Medical Center after a long, courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
He was the husband of Joanne (Szwaja) Leshyk.
Born in Acushnet, Mass., the son of Cecilia (Almeida) Leshyk of Acushnet and the late Nicholas Leshyk, he was raised in Fairhaven, Mass., and lived in Connecticut and California while summering in Mattapoisett, Mass. He was a graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth, Mass.
He was the proprietor and founder of The Bagel Place Inc., in Santa Ana, Calif., a wholesale manufacturer of bagels and energy bars for many years.
Mr. Leshyk was a member and served on the board of directors at the Dana West Yacht Club in California. He enjoyed skiing and sailing, and also enjoyed volunteering his time to bring many of the children from the Olive Crest Orphanage out sailing with him. He was a tireless fundraiser for the Leukemia Cup Regatta.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; 2 sons, Wayne N. Leshyk of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Brian P. Leshyk of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; a brother, Nicholas Leshyk, and his wife Janet, of Fairhaven; 2 sisters, Nancy Perron, and her husband Richard, of Duluth, Georgia, and Victoria Greco, and her husband Peter, of Mattapoisett; several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins; and many, many friends.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Monday, April 25th at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Sunday, April 24th from 3-7 PM.
Interment private.
A Memorial Service was held on, Friday, June 24th, 2005 at Dana West Yacht Club in California.
