Obituary

Bridgewater - Matthew E. Palmieri, 81, of Bridgewater died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Marie A. (Pulsinelli) Palmieri.

Born July 9, 1923, in Somerville, he was the son of the late Nicandro and Elizabeth (Gallucci)Palmieri.
Raised in Revere, Mr. Palmieri was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1941.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in China.

Mr. Palmieri was a retired letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service in West Bridgewater, where he worked for 19 years. He also worked for four years as a marine electrician at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy.

He had been a Bridgewater resident for the past 20 years, coming from West Bridgewater, where he lived for 26 years.

Mr. Palmieri enjoyed gardening, cards, traveling and music, especially dixieland jazz and opera.

In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by his six children, Michael E. Palmieri of Randolph, Nicholas Palmieri D. of Bridgewater, Victor E. Palmieri and Joseph M. Palmieri, both of West Bridgewater, Camille T. MacArthur of Bridgewater and Maria E. Petti of Raynham; 15 grandchildren; and three sisters, Rose Blakely of Lynn, Delores Bolling of New Hampshire and Lorraine Amirault of Lynn. He was also brother to the late Michael Palmieri.

Visiting hours are Friday, March 4, from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be Monday, March 7, at 1 p.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made the the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
