Lucy M. (Dias) Fernandes, 84 of Mattapoisett died April 8, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Edwin A. Fernandes and daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (DeCosta) Dias.
Mrs. Fernandes was born in New Bedford, raised in Dartmouth and lived in New Bedford many years before moving to Mattapoisett in 1985.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.
Lucy was formerly employed by Acushnet Company for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include 2 sons, Edwin A. Fernandes and Victor F. Fernandes, both of Mattapoisett, a brother, John Dias of Warwick, RI; a sister, Sarah Ingles of Dartmouth; 3 grandchildren, Edwin A. Fernandes, III of Wareham, Robert D. Fernandes of New Bedford and Stacey M. Leonardo of Mattapoisett; 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Dias, Julio Dias, Manuel Dias, William Dias, Grace Cebula and Lillian Araujo.
