Earleen (Morrissette) Gwozdz, 93, of Westport, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Chester Gwozdz.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Ernest and May (Maule) Morrissette and step-daughter of the late Germaine Morrissette, she was a longtime resident of Westport. Mrs. Gwozdz was a 1965 graduate of Diman School of Practical Nursing where she received her L.P.N. and she later went on to graduate from Fisher Junior College with a Certificate in Medical Assisting. Prior to her retirement, she worked as an L.P.N. for the former Truesdale Hospital in Fall River and for various area nursing homes. Following her retirement, she moved to Lakeland, FL. She was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport and she enjoyed painting, knitting, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son: Michael Gwozdz and his wife Bonnie of FL; 4 daughters: Gaille Kiser of Fall River, Jean Mello and her husband William of Westport, Kathleen Poisson and her husband Richard of Somerset and Earleen “Tina” Gwozdz of Somerset; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Elinor Gwozdz, May Marcoux, grandmother of the late Ryan Gwozdz and great grandmother of the late Dylan Francisco.
Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. George Church, Westport, at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be private.
