Arthur L. Peloquin, age 87, passed away on Jan. 24, 2015 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born on Feb. 8, 1927 in Holyoke, a son of the late Alfred and Rena (David) Peloquin. He was educated at Chicopee High School, attended classes at Mass. State College, and later earned his associates degree in Criminal Justice at Holyoke Community College. Arthur served in the US Army. He was appointed as a police officer for the Chicopee Police Department in Nov. 1949, was promoted to Sergeant in Feb. 1953, Lieutenant Detective in Nov. 1956, Captain in Nov. 1963, and retired with 42 years of service in 1992 as Senior Captain. He was a communicant of St Rose de Lima Parish. He was a member of the American Legion Post 337 in Aldenville, the Elks and Mass Police Association. He leaves his loving wife of over 62 years, Alida Peloquin of Chicopee; 3 sons, Thomas B. Peloquin and his wife Betsy of Oxford, MI, Dr. Charles A. Peloquin and his wife Susan of Gainesville, FL and Douglas A. Peloquin and his wife Yvonne of Springfield. He also leaves his 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister Claire Estelle Peloquin, his son Mark David Peloquin, and his grandson Samuel Joshua Peloquin.
