Obituary

BEVERLY: Michael Pisani, Jr., 87, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Beverly Hospital. Born in Beverly on July 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Michael, Sr. and Rose (Yadersinia) Pisani. He was a lifelong resident of Beverly.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged in May 1947. He was a sixty-four year member of the Vittori Rocci Post #56 of Beverly.
Mike owned and operated the former Pisani’s Market on Rantoul Street and Shop-A-While on Essex Street for over fifty years.
He was a longtime season ticket holder for the Boston Red Sox and was also an opera enthusiast.
He is survived by five sisters, Evelyn M. Mobilia of Medford, Margaret V. Mirandi of Beverly, Yolanda Essler of Danvers, Vera Flint of Beverly and Gloria Durkee of Danvers and among the many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews was his nephew and longtime caregiver, Tom Boudreau of Beverly. He was also predeceased by six sisters, Ernestine Pinciaro, Josephine Cookson, Olga Stewart, Helen Rossi, Rose Mary Pisani and Shirley Levesque and one brother, Anthony Pisani.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
