Daniel S. Martin, 76, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, formerly of Methuen, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Dan was born on October 27th, 1937 in Lawrence to the late Joseph and Josephine (Shalhoub) Martin. He attended Saint Mary's Grammar School, was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, and later attended Merrimack College. Dan worked at the Kellogg Sales Company in the Merrimack Valley area for some 35 years. He was a parishioner of Saint Anthony's Maronite Church in Lawrence, MA.
Dan was one of the co-founders of Pop Warner Football, Methuen Chapter, and also served as coach. He was very active with Methuen High School Rangers Boosters Club, youth sports programs in the Merrimack Valley area, President of the P.T.A., and instrumental in bringing Youth Drug Awareness programs to the area.
Thoroughbred horse racing was one of his passions. In later years, he helped coach his grandchildren in sports which meant the world to him. Dan enjoyed trips to Florida with his wife, Louise and adored and lived for his grandchildren. He appreciated the uniqueness in each one of them.

his daughter, Susan T. Martin of Methuen, MA.;
his sons, Jay and his wife Kelly (Flanagan) Martin and their children Alexander and Victoria of Bradford, MA.; and
Daniel G. and his wife Shelley (Hunter) Martin and their children Danny, Carlie and Delaney of York, ME.;
cousins, Kathleen and her husband Frank Russo of Methuen, MA; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Shaheen, Peter Shaheen and his wife Dianne, and David Shaheen and his wife Rosemary, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Helen and her husband Richard Arraj and his sister-in-law, Bunny Shaheen.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call on Wednesday, April 9th, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Anthony's Maronite Church in Lawrence, Massachusetts and the burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
