Obituary

HAVERHILL: Jacqueline “Jackie” (Cushing) Martis, 83, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 3, 2014 in the Tufts New England Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Henry J. “Hank” Martis.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Sherman J. and Edna (Kendrick) Cushing. Jackie lived in Jamaica Plain as a young girl and was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School class of 1947. She also had resided in Brighton for thirty-six years and upon retirement relocated to Holiday, Florida. She currently lived in Haverhill with her daughter and son-in-law for the last four and a half years.
Jackie was an avid Red Sox fan, loved to bowl, enjoyed word search puzzles, and playing cards with her friends at Sarah’s Place in Haverhill. Jackie will be missed by all who knew her especially her daughter’s dogs, Molly and Bella.
She is survived by her three loving children, Carol Robb of Bangor, ME. Peggy and her husband, Terry Connolly of Haverhill and Joseph and his wife, Peggy Martis of Franklin; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Thomas Robb.
A Memorial service for Jackie will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 12 Noon. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jackie’s name to Sarah’s Place Adult Day Health Center, 180 Water St, Haverhill, MA 01830
