Obituary

Shrewsbury - Gladys (Skog) Carlson, 97, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013, in Knollwood Nursing Center. She leaves her twin children, Roberta Ziegler of Shrewsbury and Robert Carlson of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter T. Carlson, a daughter, Janet Schaedler, two brothers, Oscar and Hjalmar Skog, and four sisters, Hulda Moore, Mabel Sullivan, Astrid Davidson, and Dorothea Putnam.

Gladys was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Oscar and Edla M. (Olson) Skog. She graduated from The High School of Commerce and worked for many years as a manager of the Putnam Card and Gift Shops. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, a member of the Shrewsbury Women's Club, and Eastern Star-Stella Chapter. She was an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening, bridge, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her extended family.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014, from 11:30am - 12:30pm in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm in the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Rd., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, 9 Island Road, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury or Briarwood Activities Fund, 87 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606.
