Catherine A. “Cathy” Walsh, 49, of Worcester died Thursday, December 26th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home at Coes Pond after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. She leaves her husband of 7 years, Paul R. Leary, Jr.; a brother, Brian Walsh of Winchendon and a nephew, Benjamin Walsh of Manchester, NH.
She was born in Winchester, the daughter of Adam Walsh and Carol Brown and graduated from Becker College with a degree in Horticulture. Cathy owned and operated the former Sprout flower shop for the last 13 years, closing its doors on November 30th due to her illness. She was the winner of numerous awards including the Worcester Living Magazine’s Best Florist for six years in a row and the Worcester Magazine’s Best of Worcester for ten years. Cathy was a co-founder of the West Side Business Network in Worcester and was part of the Turtle Boy Urban Gardeners where she would spend many hours planting flowers on Worcester Common around the Turtle Boy statue.
Calling hours are Monday, December 30th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
