Gayle E. (Morrison) Jowett 76, of Natick, died Monday, October 28, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter in Holliston.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Jowett, who died in 2004.
Born in Natick, she was the daughter of the late Bump and Mamadoll (Slaney) Morrison.
Gayle was employed for 38 years by New England Telephone. She started as an operator and was later promoted to toll technician, making her one of the first women in the company to hold that job title.
She enjoyed winters in Nokomis, Florida where she had numerous friends and was the Queen of the Ruby Red Rogues Red Hatters.
Most precious to Gayle was the time spent with her family and friends, but she especially enjoyed making memories with her grandchildren.
Gayle’s true motto in life was "Enjoy the day - life is not a dress rehearsal!"
She is survived by two sons, Patrick E Garvey Jr. and his wife Laurie of Framingham, and Joseph L Garvey of Holliston, one daughter Susan M Garvey of Holliston, four step daughters, Lynda Chace, Jodi Cooke, Marcy O’Neill and her husband Sean, all of Florida, Cyndy Livesey and her husband Glenn of Seekonk, one brother Peter Morrison and his wife Maura of Groton. She was Nana to 12 grandchildren, Craig, Caitlyn, Joey and Mikey Garvey, Gabrielle Garvey, Kelli Lucier, Billy and Michael Chace, Angela Prokopiak, Miranda O’Neill, Corey Livesey, and the late Jamie Varrieur. She also left behind many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was the former wife of Patrick E. Garvey of Natick with whom she maintained a close friendship.
She was the sister of the late Lawrence Morrison and Joan Roche.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 A.M at St Mary’s Episcopal Church 258 Concord St. Newton Lower Falls.
