Funeral services for Major David M. Harp; Retired USAF, 84, of Ashburn, GA will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Major Harp passed away Thursday, September 19 in an Albany, GA hospital following an extended illness. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 23 in Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, GA.

The son of the late Harrison Martin Hart and Dewey Juanita Meredith Harp Friend he was born in Ashburn, GA. Major Harp was retired from The United States Air Force. He was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church and a member of The American Legion Post #98. Also he was a lifetime member of The Military Officers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Gisela Kniest Harp of Ashburn; his children, Christina Harp (Wilbur “Ken”) Harrell of Macon, GA; Karen Suzanne Harp (Chris) Cumsille of Lakewood, Colorado; his grandchildren, Victoria Lee Ogaz, Maya Magdalena Cumsille and Elias Cristobol Cumsille all of Lakewood, Colorado; Olivia Harper Gelber, Elizabeth Bonnie Harrell and David Steven Harrell all of Macon, GA. He is also survived by his sister, Dora Elizabeth Pitts of Columbus, GA.

In addition to his parents, he was also proceeded in death by his brothers and sisters, Bill Harrison Harp, Mattie Bell Doss, Marion Harp and Joanne Harp.
