Obituary

TAUNTON – Robert W. Pigeon, husband of the late Evelyn May (Sylvester) Pigeon, died at his Taunton home on August 5, 2013.
He was 94.
Born in Romorantin, France, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Armandine (Krechmar) Pigeon.
Moving to the Taunton area as a child, Mr. Pigeon attended Coyle High School and later served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
A U.S. Merchant Marine veteran, he served for 22 years spanning both WW II and the Korean Conflict; including convoy duty in the North Atlantic.
Employed by General Dynamics as a ship fitter for many years, Mr. Pigeon had also lived and worked in Provincetown.
A member of the American Volksport Association, he enjoyed traveling and hiking.
He was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert A. Pigeon of Marston Mills; a daughter, Andrea A. O’Connor of South Boston; two brothers, Gerard Pigeon of Cape Coral, FL, and Wilfred A. Pigeon of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late David A. Pigeon, and brother of the late Armand and George Pigeon, Yvette Girardin and Jeannette Drew.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday Aug. 12th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of The Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday August 11th from 2 to 4 p.m.
