Mrs. Velia L. Stagnitto, 82 of Medford, died Thursday, surrounded by her loving family at her home where she lived for many years. She is the wife of the late Giuseppe Stagnitto.
Mrs. Stagnitto was born in Italy, the daughter of the late Angelo and Erminia (Susi) Federico. She and her family emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1947. They settled in Boston's North End. In 1967 She moved to Medford. She was a great cook and gardener. She enjoyed games of chance and taking occasional trips to Foxwoods. She enjoyed the many friendships developed while a member of the Bella Donna Society. She and her husband would often take trips to their favorite vacation spot in Maine. However nothing made her happier than family get togethers, spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters: Rina Moynihan and her husband James of Malden, Connie Pustorino and her husband Frank of Reading and a son Joseph Stagnitto of MD. Beloved grandmother of Frank, Nicole and Joseph Pustorino. Dear sister of the late Gino and Domenic Federico. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will begin from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home 306 Main Street Medford, on Tuesday April 16, at 8:00 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church 600 Pleasant St. Malden at 9:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Friends may call Monday from 4 through 8 p.m. Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Chapel Hill Mausoleum, Malden.
