Obituary

Mr. James E. Poirier, of Raynham, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 14 in Morton Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol Ann (Thomas) Poirier. He was born 79 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Emile & Elizabeth (Rocheleau) Poirier. He was educated in Taunton and had been a Raynham resident for 37 years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a Lieutenant at the Bridgewater Correctional Complex for 31 years. James was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Chester A. Bearce Post #405 American Legion in Raynham. He enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his family.

He leaves: 2 sons: Jim Poirier of N. Raynham, & David Poirier of E.Taunton; 1 daughter: Paula Pradella of Fruit Cove, Fla.; 1 brother: Norman Poirier of Raynham; 2 sisters: Sr. Helen Poirier, SUSC of Brockton, and Louise Jackson of Greenwood, SC; 1 grandson: Michael Pradella of Fruit Cove, FL, and 1 granddaughter: Lauren Pradella of Fruit Cove, FL & several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jeanne Place of Virginia.

Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, February 16 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
