Obituary

John A. “Jack” Santos 87, of Natick, died Thursday December 20, 2012 surrounded by his family, at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland.
He was the beloved husband of Lillian O. (Cifizzari) Santos with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

A Natick resident for 52 years, he was born in Framingham son of the late Joaquim and Maria (Valles) Santos. Mr Santos was a truck driver 32 years for New England Sand and Gravel Company retiring in 1987. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union, the Natick AMVETS, Natick VFW, Boston Cured Cancer Club, Natick Elks and the Framingham Portuguese American Club.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid sports fan especially of the Boston Red Sox. Mr Santos was a decorated Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army as a Demolition Specialist engaged in the battles of Northern France , Rhineland and the Ardennes, and during other central European Campaigns. He was completely devoted to his family and with his wife Lillian made their Pond Street home open with friendship and hospitality to all in the neighborhood and their large extended family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his four devoted children, Edward L. Santos of Natick, Catherine A. Ledger and her husband Robert of Plymouth, Donna M. Santos of Natick, and Joanne O'Brien and her husband Michael of Natick; eight cherished grandchildren, Brian Santos, Danielle Santos, Christopher Santos, Matthew Ledger, Kelsey Ledger, Joseph Santos, Michelle Santos and Michael O'Brien; daughter in law Peggy Santos of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late John "Jack" Santos who died November 30, 2010 and he was the brother of the late Delfina Costa, Mary Fernandes, Deolinda Santos, Joseph Santos and Sarafina Santos.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday December 28 at 10:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Linus Church at 11:00 A.M. Visiting hours are Thursday December 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
