Obituary

John J. Coffey, 83, of Bear Hill Road, Cumberland, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Kent County Hospital. He was the husband of Helen L. (Gervais) Coffey.
Born in NY, New York, he was a son of the late Joseph and Magdalena (Hammerschmidt) Coffey. He had lived in Cumberland for the past seven years. He had served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was a millwright for Texas Instruments before retiring. He was a member of the Smithfield Elks and St. Thomas Church Men’s Club in Providence.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children: Donna Hicks and her husband, Richard, of Warwick, Denise Laurito and her husband, Rick, of Smithfield, John J. “Jack” Coffey, Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Cumberland, seven grandchildren: Daniel, Susan, Ashley, Kelly, Timothy, Kimberly and Paige and three great grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Christina and brother of the late James, William, Joseph and George Coffey and Mary Melrose.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visitation Wednesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Trudeau Center, 3445 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886.
