João T. Cabral age 71 of Fall River, passed away on Sep. 26, 2012 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria E. (Martins) Cabral. Born in Fenais da Luz, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of Maria (Travassos) Cabral and the late Joao Botelho Cabral. Prior to retiring, Joao worked for Quaker Fabric as a Machine Operator. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. Joao enjoyed gardening, cooking and supporting the Portuguese National Soccer Team and his favorite club team “Benefica”. He adored his grandchildren and spending time with his family
Besides his wife of Fall River, he is survived by his children: Eduarda (Cabral) Luzea Furtado (husband Paul) of Lexington, KY, John J. Cabral (wife Cristina) of Taunton, MA, & Nancy (Cabral) Carreiro (husband Ted) of Assonet, MA. Joao was the brother of Maria Cambra & Francelina Costa both of Bermuda, Almerinda Travassos of Fall River, Aldina Patricio of Sao Miguel, Azores, Messias Cabral of Canada & the late Manuel & Delfino Cabral & Jose Maria Cabral. Joao was also the loving grandfather of Joshua & Matthew Furtado, Sophia & Madeline Cabral, & Samantha Carreiro, and uncle to many nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on MONDAY at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours SUNDAY 3-7 P.M.
