Victor Joseph Parent, of Worcester died Wednesday, August 22nd in his family's home in Rindge, NH. He was 88. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sonia N. (Repekta) Parent who died in March of 2011. He leaves the twins; Sandy J. Hennessy of Rindge, NH and Jay V. Parent and his wife, Saesha of Ipswich; a brother in law, Joseph Trachimowicz of Worcester; 4 grandchildren; 2 nephews and their families. He also leaves his loving friend, Martha McManus.
Mr. Parent was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph V. and Helen (Levinski) Parent and attended St. Anthony’s Elementary School and graduated from St. John’s High School. Victor attended Wentworth Institute and Cushing Engineering where he studied engineering. He also had a degree in engineering in the nuclear power field. Mr. Parent worked at Wyman-Gordon Company for 39 years as Chief Power Plant Engineer and then at Memorial Hospital.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II in the Pacific. Victor was a member and past president of the local chapter of the National Association of Power Engineers and regional president for many years. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council 231, Senior Speak of Worcester and of Sacred Heart – St. Catherine of Sweden Church. Mr. Parent played the harmonica since he was 6 and belonged to the Harmonicats. He was a devoted husband and loving father who enjoyed his summers at Webster Lake and celebrating his anniversaries in Hawaii with his wife. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid fisherman.
His funeral is Monday, August 27th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 12:00 PM in Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 until 11:30 AM on Monday.
