Margaret Jackie Mims

Augusta, GA – Margaret Jacquelyn “Jackie” Mims, 83, entered peacefully into rest on Friday, August 17th 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

Jackie was born in Birmingham, AL in October, 1928, daughter of John Carmen Jennings Sr. and Margaret Fuller Vaughn. She graduated from North Augusta High School and married her husband Glenn in December 1946. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Jackie was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Glenn Mims Sr., and her son, Larry Wayne Mims. She is survived by her children, Terrie M. Bennett (Billy), Carla M. Lord (Butch), Al Jennings Mims (Yvonne), James Glenn “Buzzy” Mims Jr., Rebecca M. Burke (Mike), Cecile M. Pabon (Bill), and Bonnie Mims (wife of the late Larry Mims), her grandchildren, Derek May (Tara), Melissa Hanson (Erik), Monica Rice (Chris), Jeff Lord, Valari Ethridge (Ronnie), James Glenn “Jay” Mims III, Vincent Mathis (Andrea), Randy Taylor, Miguel “Mickey” Diaz Jr. (Jennifer), Hillary Odom (Robert), Anthony Mathis, Heather Burke, Suzanne Mathis, Crystal Mims, Patrick Mims, Jacquelyn Pabon, and Alexis Pabon, her great-grandchildren Alexis May, Derek May II, Glenn Hansen, Kristin Anderson, Gabby Rice, Maggie Rice, Kale McClure, Garrett Ethridge, Ashlyn Mims, Andrew Mims, Haley Mathis, Dayton Mathis, Zak Green, Maddox Mathis, Caitlyn Taylor, Randy Taylor III, Carley Taylor, Psymon Smith, Trey Diaz, Mackenzie Odom, Sofia Odom, Richard Mathis, Alexis Mathis, Karis Burke, Carter Mathis, and Cash Mathis and one great-great-grandson Aiden Layne Anderson. Jackie is also survived by her sister Anne Jennings Payne, two brothers, John Carmen Jennings Jr. and Fred Vaughn Jennings, one sister-in-law, Martha Ewer Jennings (wife of the late William “Bill” Jennings), numerous nieces and nephews, and her loving friend, Angie Steger.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.



In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 3500 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA 30909.
