William "Bill" D. Dolan, 74, of Franklin died May 23 in Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Ann C. (Schattle) Dolan.
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, January 13, 1938, the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Cullen) Dolan, Mr. Dolan was raised in Hawthorne, Nevada and had lived in Pittsfield for several years prior to moving to Franklin 42 years ago.
Mr. Dolan was a graduate of Mineral County High School and the University of Nevada Reno.
Mr. Dolan had been an Electrical Engineer for the Raytheon Corporation for 37 years before retiring two years ago.
He had previously worked for the General Electric Corporation in Pittsfield.
Mr. Dolan served in the Navy during the Vietnam era and attained the rank of Lieutenant First Class. Mr. Dolan had been a member of the Clinical Trials for cardio amyloidosis.
He had been a lector at St. Mary's Church and a member of the Raytheon Management Club. He enjoyed playing tennis and volleyball.
Bill adored his grandchildren and anything and everything he could do with them brought him his greatest joy.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Catherine Fitch and her husband Ken of Cranford, New Jersey and Maureen Steudel and her husband Mark of Westborough.
He is also survived by his brothers Edward Dolan of Verdi, California and Charles Joseph Dolan of Manteca, California.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anna May, and Connor Fitch and Nicholas, Kristen, Sarah and Matthew Steudel.
Calling hours will be on Monday May 28 from 5-8PM at Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main St. Franklin MA.
His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 29 in St. Mary's Church at 10:00AM. Gathering for the procession from the funeral home, prior to mass, will be at 9:15AM. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
