Obituary

BRADFORD: Julia B. (Sudol) Sargent, 97, died March 26, 2012 in the Lawrence General Hospital. She was the wife of the late William E. Sargent, Sr.
Born on Haverhill on June 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Sadie (Kawiec) Sudol. She was a lifelong resident of Haverhill and attended Haverhill Public Schools. She worked for many years at Roberts Bakery in Bradford assisting in the daily functions of the bakery. Julia was also employed as a shoe worker and as a fancy stitcher for Eastern Canvas in Haverhill before retiring in 1968.
She attended Sacred Heart’s Church and was previously a member of the St. Michaels Church in her younger years. Julia has many relatives who currently live in Poland and is proud of her Polish heritage. She had a passion for gardening and could be found tending to her plentiful vegetable gardens and beautiful flowers in her yard on Salem Street in Bradford. She also enjoyed crocheting in her spare time. Spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the highlight of her life over the years. She also enjoyed her cat, “Charlie” who she rescued and had for twenty-one years.
Julia’s family would like to thank the staff at the Prescott House in North Andover for the exceptional care they provided Julia during her time there.
Julia is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. And Linda Sargent of Bradford; three grandchildren, Connie Sargent Smith and her husband, Mitchell of Newton, NH, Robert F. Sargent, Jr. and his wife, Julie of Shrewsbury and Michael Sargent and his wife, Susan of Bradford; six great-grandchildren, Cassie and Mitchell Smith of Newton, NH, Shannon and Christina Sargent of Shrewsbury and Matthew and Haley Sargent of Bradford; two sisters-in-law, Mary Sargent of Haverhill and Ruth Mattingly and her husband, William of La-Habra Heights, CA and many loving nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her infant daughter, Barbara Sargent and her son William E. Sargent, Jr., a sister, Rose Goterch; two brothers, Frank and Andrew Sudol and four sisters-in-law, Marion Sudol, Viola Poston, Lucy Smith and Thelma Mudge.
Funeral services for Julia will be held on Saturday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 – 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
