New Bedford – Cremilde Bettencourt, age 87 years died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur L. Bettencourt. She was the loved mother of Antonio and Filomena Bettencourt of Fall River, Fernando Bettencourt of New Bedford, Virginia Aguiar and her husband Altino of FL., Merces Camara and her husband John of New Bedford, Yolanda Almeida of Dartmouth, Mary Bettencourt and her partner Donna Brown of New Bedford, Manuela Cormier and her partner Earl White of New Bedford, and Nicole Bettencourt of New Bedford. Cremilde was the sister of the late Maria Virginia Mata. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bettencourt was a daughter of the late Virginia do Conceicao (Rodrigues) and Manuel August Pereira. She was born in Ponte Delgada, Sao Miguel, Açores and has lived in New Bedford since 1968. She was employed as a Floor Worker at Cliftex Corporation until her retirement.
Mrs. Bettencourt’s funeral will be Friday at the request of the family a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:30A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at Church. Arrangements by the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St.
