Obituary

Anna S. LeBel, 80, of Derry, NH died unexpectedly yet peacefully on October 17, 2011, at her home which she shared with her beloved husband, Roger. Anna was born the youngest of four children to Johann and Katharina Vitzthum in Warngau, Germany on May 26, 1931. She married her husband of 63 years, Roger R. LeBel while he was stationed in Germany with the United States Air Force. Together they traveled extensively and lived in many different places during his long career in the Air Force and raised two sons, before finally settling in Derry, New Hampshire 25 years ago.
Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends who numbered many through the years in many different locations.
In addition to her husband, Roger, she is survived by her son, Alfred LeBel and his wife Mary LeBel who currently reside in Florida. Anna is predeceased by her younger son Thomas LeBel. She leaves grandchildren, Teresa LeBel and Anne Hooker, and Anne’s husband Jeffrey Hooker. Anna also leaves two great-grandchildren, Teresa and Trevor Hooker, as well as her niece and god-daughter, Anna Ulsamer and numerous nieces and nephews in the US and in Germany. Besides her parents and son Tommy, Anna was predeceased by her sisters Maria Seidl and Katharina Steiner and her brother Johann Vitzthum.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 9:00 – 10:00am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 400 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeast Affiliate, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
