FALL RIVER… Raymond A. Boulay, 89, of Fall River died accidently, Tuesday, September 20, 2011.
He was the husband of Germaine (Lamarre) Boulay.
He was born in Fall River a son of the late Abraham and Adelaide (Lavoie) Boule` and had lived most of his life in Fall River.
He was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Fall River where he was a collector for Sunday Mass, a director of the parish committee, Past President of the St. Vincent de Paul Corp., and a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an Inspector of Public Utilities retiring in July of 1986 after more than 25 years of service. Prior to working for the Commonwealth he worked for Fall River Gas Company.
Mr. Boulay served in the United States Army during W.W.II and received a Bronze Star. He graduated from Somerset High School and attended Thibodeau Business School. He was Past Treasurer of the Ward Six Democratic City Committee and served as Chairman of Ward Six Committee to elect former Mayor Raymond Mitchell. He was a member of A.F.S.C.M.E. He was a former Police Commissioner and a former Fire Commissioner for the City of Fall River. He enjoyed bingo, traveling, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his widow 2 sons; Rene Boulay and his wife Barbara of Middleborough, Adrien Boulay of Fall River, 5 daughters; Monique Morrissette and Anne Marie Bertoncini and her husband Paul both of Fall River, Claire Marie Mello and her husband Jimmy of Swansea, Colette Vincent of Assonet, and Marie-Paule Shea and her husband Peter of Whitinsville, MA, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Bernard W. Boulay and brother of the late Normand Bouley and George Boule`.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 9AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 529 Eastern Ave., Fall River. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Fall River. Calling hours will be Friday 5 – 8 PM.
