Obituary

Wesley (Wes) Benjamin Woods, age 39, of Gales Ferry, CT passed away suddenly in Springfield, Vermont on July 17th, 2026 while enjoying a vacation with friends.

He was born on June 12, 1987 in New London, CT to Deborah and Anthony Woods. He primarily grew up in Gales Ferry, CT and attended Ledyard High School.

He was employed by General Dynamics Electric Boat for 18 years, most recently working as a Senior Electrical Designer, and a member of the MDA UAW Local 571.

Wes was often described as a one of a kind guy who led with compassion and kindness. He was the kind of guy who would give the shirt off his back, and expect nothing in return. He was always smiling, always with a laugh that was infectious to all. He accepted everyone who crossed his path as they were, without hesitation. He was a family man, making sure to be at every family event, and was always there for loved ones when they needed him. He was also a friend who could always be relied on.

He had a deep passion for gaming, making everyone feel welcome. He loved helping others and organizing events to bring people together. This led to him co-found the NLCRPG, Inc. a non-profit with a mission to provide a fun and exciting night of gaming to raise money for local charities. He managed the website and ran the charity raffle for the Drinking and Dragons events. He also organized a Tabletop Wargaming group playing Star Wars Legion.

Wes is survived by his parents Deborah Woods of Gales Ferry, CT, Anthony Woods of Norwood, NC, sister Amanda Jacques and her husband Billy Jacques as well as his nephews Caleb Jacques and Declan Jacques, and niece Emma Jacques of Hanahan, SC, his grandparents Benjamin and Sandra Helme of Mystic, CT step-sister Jessica Murphy of Groton, CT, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were as close as family.

He is predeceased by his grandparents Elvin and Mildred Woods of Clearwater, FL.

Wesley’s family will greet relatives and friends at a celebration of life to honor his memory on Sunday, July 26th 2026 from 4-7pm at Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St, Mystic, CT 06355.
