WEST BROOKFIELD – Michael C. Brisbois, 48, of West Brookfield and a longtime resident of Davis Street in East Springfield, was Called Home on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on April 13, 1978, a beloved son of Gary G. and Karen M. (Kukla) Brisbois, of West Brookfield and longtime residents of Springfield. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Central High School and studied online to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. While at Central High he played multiple positions in football, receiving three Super Bowl rings. In 1994, USA Today recognized him as a most notable player in football for his offensive and defensive talents. In addition, Michael played soccer for various organizations including the John Boyle O’Reilly Club of Springfield, where he traveled to Ireland to compete against several countries. He lived in Springfield for many years before moving to West Brookfield in 2000 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was the back of house manager of Snookers Billiards Club and The Break live entertainment venue on Boston Road in Springfield. The Break, including the entire interior design, lighting and logos were designed by Michael and, along with his dad, construction was completed in 2023. He created and managed the Web page as well as creating the menu and recipes for preparing all the food at the venue. He previously was an Apprentice Electrician for his father's business, Gary Brisbois Electric in West Brookfield. He was a longtime communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield where he also played soccer and basketball. He loved soccer, football, golf, fishing, reading, video games, music and cooking. He was a member of the Ludlow Country Club as a junior golfer. Michael was also self-taught on guitar. He spent many hours looking for and watching new cooking shows, his favorite being MasterChef Australia. These he would record and share with his mom. Together they would design and cook incredible meals for his family. In addition to his parents, he leaves his loving sister, Amanda C. Selden and her husband, John, of Erie, CO; his cherished nephew and niece, Charles and Sydney; his beloved maternal grandmother, Claire Kukla of Chicopee; his dear uncles and aunts, Marc and Mary Kukla of Chicopee, Bonnie Kukla of Chicopee, and Lynn and Scott Poteat of Westfield; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Alvina (Gosselin) Brisbois; his maternal grandfather, Stanley Kukla; his dear uncles and aunts, Charles Brisbois, Leslie and James Kijak, and Eric Kukla. His family will host and receive family and friends at a Celebration of Life event on Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the John Boyle O’Reilly Club, 33 Progress Avenue, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will be private at the convenience of the family. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
