Paula Ryan, 80 of South Boston died June 23, 2026, after a brief illness.
She was born on April 20, 1946, to the late Mary and Thomas Ryan of South Boston.
Paula is survived by nieces, Kathy Ryan of Weymouth, Karen Ryan MacDougall of Quincy,Teri Ryan White of Quincy, and Kelly Ryan Fullam of Dorchester, and nephew R. Kevin Ryan of Alexandria, Virginia as well as 11 grand and 10 great-grand nieces
She is predeceased by her brothers Robert (Rob), Thomas (Din) and Donald (Buddy) also of South Boston.
Paula was a true daughter of South Boston and a fierce and loyal advocate for friends and family; If someone needed help, Paula would lead the charge. She was a great greeting card ambassador and never missed an occasion. Paula also loved spending time at the South Boston Neighborhood House, and she truly enjoyed the trips to the Connecticut casinos. Another one of Paula’s passions was cooking; family and friends always looked forward to St. Patrick’s Day and Paula’s corned beef dinners. Paula considered her neighbors and friends from Eighth & Ninth Street family; particularly her devoted friends Maureen Peacock and Joe and Linda Leeman. Our family is so grateful for these very special people. We may have lost a gem, but Paula’s legacy and life by example will continue to shine through all of us.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 2nd at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St Monica’s Catholic Church, 331 Old Colony Ave, South Boston.
