Metlinda Kay Biddle Carpenter, 76, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Noblesville. She was born on April 23, 1950, in Anderson and spent most of her adult life in Bloomington.
She was married to Chester Karl Carpenter from 1978 until his death in August 2011.
Metlinda is survived by her daughters, Melisa Smith, April Jones, Noel Abel and Nancy Carpenter; her grandchildren, Heather Smith, McKenzie Dittemore, and Vincent Coleman; her sister, Georgina “Faye” Biddle Reed; and her brothers, Tracy Biddle and Roy “Wayne” Biddle.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Carpenter; her husband, Chester Carpenter; and her siblings, Nola Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Richard Johnson, and Kenneth Biddle.
Metlinda enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and romantic comedies. She worked for a community meal service helping provide meals to the elderly.
She will be remembered by her family and friends.
