Dateline: Norton, MA Paula R. (Yelle) Bishop, age 87, of Wrentham and Plainville, a former longtime resident of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late William L. Bishop, to whom she was wed for sixty years at the time of his death on November 18, 2017. Born in Attleboro, MA on April 21, 1938, she was a loving daughter of the late Leo G., Sr. and Ruth M. (Courtney) Yelle. Paula grew up in her hometown of Norton and was a 1955 graduate of Norton High School. She received her certification as a registered nurse from the Newton-Wellesley School of Nursing. Mrs. Bishop began her healthcare career in the Pediatric Unit at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She next worked as a school nurse for Norton Public Schools and then returned to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1998, following a career that spanned over thirty years. Paula’s family and close circle of friends were always an important part of her life. When her children and grandchildren were growing up, she had fun using her talents to design and create costumes which fit the mood of the holiday on hand. Along with her late husband Bill, they created many fond memories of summers in Dennis on Cape Cod and winters spent in sunny Florida. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and when younger was an avid painter. Paula will also be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her remarkable sense of humor and contagious laughter, which made others around her happy. She was the devoted mother of David A. Bishop of Norton, Steven P. Bishop and his fiancé Traci O’Connor of Norton, Linda G. Johansson and her husband Bruce of Thornton, New Hampshire and the late Dale W. Bishop, who recently passed away on February 14, 2026 and who is survived by his wife Vel Bishop of Norton. She was the dear sister of Leo G. Yelle, Jr. and his wife Jean of Rochester, New Hampshire, retired United States Navy Commander A. Courtney Yelle and his wife Eloise of Cocoa Beach, Florida and the late John F. Yelle, the late Peter H. Yelle, who is survived by his wife Theresa Yelle of Belmont, New Hampshire and the late Shirley L. MacPhee, who recently passed away February 5, 2026 and her late husband Farrand “Jack” MacPhee. She is also survived by her loving 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several generations nieces and nephews and was the cherished grandmother of the late Kyle “Punkin” Bishop. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, March 29th from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial will take place privately at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
