With heavy hearts, we share that Sidney “Sid” Johnson III passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by his family. Sid was born in Massachusetts on September 2, 1946. He should be remembered for his sense of humor and fascinating world travel stories.
Sid was a proud graduate of St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, VA and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Upon graduating from college, Sid began a career that would lead him to live in and travel to several different countries. He was known to devour ceviche in Peru and indulge in a rum punch in the Dominican Republic.
Eventually he settled down in Jamaica where he started a textile manufacturing company, owned and operated a restaurant with his wife, began to raise a family, and enjoyed basking in the sun.
Throughout his life, he and his family spent many of their years in Chatham, MA where his daughters grew up and where they will always celebrate him. He cherished boat rides with friends and cracking open steamers and lobster.
Eventually he would move his business to Georgia where he and his wife enjoyed several years on St Simons Island before retiring to Washington DC.
Sid was proceeded in death by his parents, Sidney Jr and Miriam Johnson as well as his beloved wife Suzanne Johnson. He is survived by his daughters Samantha Brennan (Brian) and Alexandra Johnson along with his sisters Susan Dyer (Paul), Sally Simons (Tom), and sisters in law, Evelyn Cole, Deborah Loconto, Mary Ward (Tim), as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, and friends across the globe.
