In Loving Memory of Jim H. Aguilar
July 25, 1931 – January 30, 2026
Jim H. Aguilar, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by love.
Born in Santa Paula, California, Jim was the eldest of nine children. From an early age, he showed determination, athleticism, and heart. As quarterback for Santa Paula High School, he led his team to a celebrated 1948 CIF championship season, becoming a local football hero. He later continued his athletic career at Ventura College and Pepperdine University, eventually earning an offer to play professionally in Canada. True to who he was, Jim chose family over fame.
In the early 1950s, Jim met the love of his life, Ruth. They married in 1958 and shared more than 67 devoted years together, building a life rooted in faith, hard work, and deep family bonds in Ventura.
Jim spent his career in pipeline construction, eventually helping shape the success of Turf Construction, where he became not only a respected leader but a lifelong friend and mentor to many. He retired in 1996, proud of the life he built and the family he provided for.
In retirement, Jim found joy in simple things: morning coffee with friends, tending his roses, caring for his beloved dogs, and spending time with Ruth and his growing family. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beyond measure.
Jim will be remembered for his strength, integrity, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in all of us.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth; his children Stephanie (Dr Humberto Ramos ), Alison ( Ralph Pacheco) Jamie (Joe Burgos) and James Patrick; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his cherished extended family.
He is also survived by his sisters, Virginia Ariaza, Amelia Alcosar, and Lupe Carrillo; his brothers, Armando Aguilar and Henry Aguilar ; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; sisters-in-law Erma Aguilar, Cecilia Aguilar and Helen Monzon; and brother-in-law Ralph Alcosar.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Josephine Aguilar of Santa Paula; his brothers, John Raymond Aguilar and Ray Aguilar; his sister, Alice Luna; his in-laws, Elaine Aguilar, Rubén Carrillo, Art Monzon, Luis Luna and Frances Meatty and his great-grandson, Luke Leal. We would be remiss not to mention his beloved dogs—George, Samantha, Barron, and Lady—all of whom were undoubtedly waiting for him on the other side.
Rest in peace, Dad. We are forever grateful to be yours.
