Joseph "Joe" Byrne (75) passed away on January 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Joseph was born in Boston, the son of the late Edward Byrne and Claire (Hayes) Byrne. A man of remarkable talent and drive, Joe became the second youngest person in Massachusetts at the time to earn the title of Master Plumber, an achievement that set the tone for a lifetime of hard work and accomplishment.
He went on to build multiple successful businesses, including 40 years of contract work at Children's Hospital, as well as ventures in restaurant ownership, home renovations, and real estate. Joe approached every project with integrity, skill, and a relentless work ethic that earned him deep respect from colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of work, Joe embraced life with enthusiasm and a love for adventure. He enjoyed golf at Wampatuck Country Club, boating, water and snow skiing, fast cars, motorcycles, fishing, and cheering on the New England Patriots. Whatever he did, he did fully, joyfully, and often with family by his side. Celebrating accomplishments together was one of his greatest pleasures.
Above all, Joe was a devoted family man. He lived for the people he loved and never hesitated to show up, help, support, or celebrate them. His dedication, generosity, and steady presence shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. Joe leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and a life lived with purpose. His memory will continue to shine in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the family he cherished beyond measure.
In addition to his loving wife of 55 years Nancy (Zepf) Byrne, Joe leaves behind his son Derek Byrne of New Hampshire, his daughter Jennifer (Byrne) Zamba and her husband Dusty Zamba of San Diego, his daughter Karen Byrne of New Hampshire, his two brothers Edward Byrne and Timothy Byrne, his sister Donna Byrne Weeks, and his three cherished grandchildren, Jilyan, Gracelyn, and Blake who brought him endless joy and who will carry forward his spirit of curiosity, grit, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 31st at St.
Catherine of Siena, 549 Washington St, Norwood. Gathering to follow at Chateau Restaurant, 404 Boston-Providence Turnpike, Norwood.
