Obituary

Alfred Petigny, 87 of Quincy, MA passed away on January 13, 2026 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was the beloved husband of Herminie Petigny, nee St. Fleur with whom he shared more than 61 years of marriage.

Alfred was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, the son of the late Gabriel Augustin Petigny and Eliana Maurice. In his home country of Haiti, he served as a school principal prior to immigrating to the United States. After relocating to the United States, he was employed by the Polaroid Company. Retiring after 25 years. Alfred was faith filled and a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Alfred was also a die hard soccer fan and served as president of the Colo Colo Soccer Club in Boston, MA. He enjoyed traveling, taking countless family trips to Canada and New York as well as other states. Alfred was fluent in three languages, Haitian Creole, French and English. He took great pride in his large family and lifelong marriage.

In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his son Andy Petigny; three daughters, Ruthny Petigny, Jane Petigny, and Danielle Petigny; his brother Marcelle Petigny; seven sisters, Marie Merci Petigny, Jacqueline Petigny, Cecile Petigny, Suzie Petigny Colas, Marie Lourdes Petigny, Eugenie Petigny, and Marie Jocelyn Monfiston; eight grandchildren; Devaun Petigny, Dionnha Jenkins Khayli Petigny, Khelsi Petigny, Claude Pierre, Sasha Pierre, Ashlynn St. Preux and Annyka St Preux and three great-grandchildren; Josiah Petigny, A’niyah Petigny and Khailani Nicholas.

Viewing will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 1548 Blue Hill Avenue, Boston, on Friday, February 6th, at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Michael Cemetery, 500 Canterbury Street, Boston, MA.
