RUSSELL, Edward W. “Billy” of West Roxbury, MA. Passed away on January 4, 2026. Beloved husband of Meg (Corcoran) Russell. Loving father of Karen D’Angelo and her husband Michael of Attleboro and Cyndi Norton of Weymouth. Cherished Grampy to Amanda Nelson and her husband Steve of Weymouth, Caleigh D’Angelo of Waltham, and Erinn D’Angelo of Berkley, Great grandfather to Addison and Benjamin Nelson, and Loving brother of Linda Frawley and her husband Albert of Lakeville, the late John Wayne Russell and the late Stephen Russell. Billy is also survived by loving, nephews, the Corcoran family, cousins, friends and neighbors. He will be missed by all.

Billy was a devoted husband to Meg and a loving steady presence for his family. He was a proud Dad, a cherished Grampy and a joyful Great-Grampy.

A veteran of United States Navy, Billy served his country with honor and pride. That sense of service followed him throughout his life. After his military service he became a steelworker at Ryerson Steel and later went to computer school and became a tech for the Boston Public Schools in their Information and Technology unit, where he was always eager to learn, problem-solve and help others.

Billy will be remembered for his warm heart, steady guidance and gentle humor and certainly his willingness to lend a hand whenever possible. He loved all the Boston Sports teams with his Boston Bruins a favorite. Never missed a game and held “text” communications during the game.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday morning, January 9, 2026 from 9am-11am at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following at 11:30am at St. John Chrysostom Church, 4750 Washington Street, West Roxbury, MA. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
