Sarah Elizabeth Merced (Coco), 36, of Norwich, CT, died unexpectedly at her home on December 18, 2025. She was born on August 3, 1989, in Norwich, CT, to Lois Stevens and Richard Coco.
Sarah graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 2009 and from Three Rivers Community College in 2015, participating in numerous clubs and activities. She proudly worked as a Structural Designer at Electric Boat, where her meticulous attention to detail helped meet strict U.S. shipbuilding requirements. Her husband, Jason, whom she married on December 8, 2017, was a constant and unwavering source of support in all her endeavors.
Although her time here was far too short, Sarah gave her family and friends enough love to last a lifetime. She seemed to excel at anything she tried and was naturally artistic and funny. Her quick wit paired perfectly with her infectious laugh. She was generous and thoughtful to everyone she knew, always giving her time—and, if you were lucky, something she had crocheted.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband, Jason; her beloved cat, Icarus; her mother, Lois Stevens; her father, Richard Coco; her brother, Joseph Mendelsohn; her sister, Grace Lawton (Zachary); her uncles, aunts, cousins, cherished nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friends.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Joseph G. Coco and Philomena (DeStefano) Coco, and her maternal grandparents, George Stevens and Jeanne (Dixon) Stevens.
Services are being held on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at 11 A.M., at Groton Bible Chapel, 66 Toll Gate Rd., Groton, Ct. Please wear colorful clothing to represent how vibrant Sarah was.
