Randy Alan Gates, 65, lifelong resident of Anderson passed away on December 19, 2025 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on July 24, 1960 in Anderson, IN to Ozias “Odie” and Shirley (Porter) Gates. He was a graduate of Frankton High School.
He worked for Anderson Cable/Television for 24 years. He retired in 2022 after 20 years as a telephone lineman for AT&T. He was thankful that his entire work career was spent outdoors in God’s bounty.
He loved music, fishing, reading, summer vacations at Lake Tippecanoe, watching hummingbirds. He loved spending time with his granddaughter, Eleanor.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Traci (Manghelli) Gates of Anderson; his mother, Shirley Gates of Anderson; two children, Tucker Gates and Annie Gates both of Anderson; a granddaughter, Eleanor Gates; three siblings, Lesley Brown of Daleville, Marty (Lisa) Gates of Anderson, and Shelly (Rich) Garrison of Frankton; two sisters-in-law, Toni (Tony) Bilbrey of Maryville, Tennessee and Teri Michael of Kokomo; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ozias “Odie” Gates and an uncle, Charlie Gates.
Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Jerry Hilligoss officiating. The burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Anderson.
Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Food Pantry.
