SPRINGFIELD - Kevin M. O’Flaherty, 60, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Springfield on January 19, 1965 to the late Patrick F. and Mary T. (Kavanaugh) O’Flaherty. He was predeceased by his brother, John J. in August 2025.
Kevin graduated from Cathedral High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from WNEC. He was a long-time employee of the Stop & Shop Company in Springfield. He was hard working and generous, often driving fellow employees to and from work. He will be deeply missed by his family Pat, David, Anne Marie, and good friends, and cousins in the US and in Ireland.
He loved reading about and discussing history, going to the beach at Misquamicut, and his favorite travel destination was Sarasota, Florida to visit good friends Dan and Chrissy.
The family thanks Fr. Michael, Msg George, and Fr. Adam who visited and administered the Sacraments, and to the many people who thought of and prayed for our brother. A special thank you to cousin Anna Mae who was always there for Kevin and all our family.
The family is also grateful to the Cancer Treatment Center staff in Hartford in particular Nurse Maura, Dr. Rutter, and Dr. Chu, for their compassion and care of Kevin and Dr. Martagon and Nurses at Baystate Medical, for their care of Kevin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104 followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
