Obituary

Dennis Gray was born on February 16, 1961, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Vettie Cunningham (née Appleton) and Noel Gray, both now deceased. He was a beloved son, brother father, partner, and friend whose kindness, strength, and generosity touched countless lives.

Raised in St. Andrew, Jamaica, Dennis was a fun-loving child who treasured time with family and enjoyed playing games such as dominoes, cricket, Ludi, and anything that brought people together. Even at a young age, he was known for his caring spirit and his willingness to help anyone in need.

At just 17 years old, Dennis began working at Jamaica Cement Company as a laborer. In the summer of 1983, he migrated to the United States to join his family in New York City and to build a better life for himself and his 1-year-old daughter. Arriving with big dreams and remarkable determination, he worked tirelessly, taking on various jobs—from warehouse work earning $5 an hour, to a printery, and later at the airport.

Around 1986, Dennis and his friend Bobby launched D&G Limousine Services. Though the business side did not capture his heart, he discovered a lifelong passion for driving. In 1987, he relocated to Brockton, Massachusetts, where he began a new chapter and a new family. Dennis worked faithfully to provide for his loved ones and served everyone around him with dedication, integrity, and a big heart.

In 2019, Dennis joined Montilio’s Baking Company as a driver—a role he was proud of and fulfilled with his usual reliability, warmth, and professionalism.

Dennis was known for his helpful nature, always the first to show up when someone needed a hand. He had a witty sense of humor that could brighten any room and a calm, easygoing personality that made people feel at ease. A true jack-of-all-trades—mechanic, plumber, electrician—you could always count on Dennis to figure something out. He loved vintage cars, good music, meaningful conversation, and spending time with family and friends. Through every challenge, he kept a smile on his face, even in his final days, as he faced illness with courage, resilience, and unwavering faith.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memory: the love of his life, Marcia; his children, Guevien, Dennisha, Tynice, Dennis Jr., and Elijah (Lucky); his grandchildren, Caleb, Angelique, and Joshua; his siblings, Fernando (One Son), Paulette, Cecil (Junior), Paul, Denton, Donovan, Sandra, Karen, Annette, Devon, Lloyd, Annette, Glen( deceased), Dicky, Betty, and Donovan; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Though Dennis is no longer with us physically, we hold fast to the blessed hope that we will see him again when Jesus returns. Until that glorious day, we remain committed to carrying forward his legacy of love, faith, strength, and service. The lessons he taught, the joy he shared, and the memories he created will live in our hearts forever.
