Dorothy M. DeNicola, 97
Dateline: Norton, MA Dorothy M. (Cummarella) DeNicola, of Norton, passed away, the day following her 97th birthday. She died peacefully at home, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, surrounded by the love and devotion of her adoring family. Born in Boston, MA on December 6, 1928, she was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie (Porcella) Cummarella. Dorothy grew up in the Medford, Malden area and following graduation from high school, she moved to Norton with her three children. As a single mother, she pursued her certification in hairdressing and shortly after opened Dorothy’s Salon 2000 in North Attleboro where she worked until her retirement and was well-loved by her many loyal clients. A resident of Norton for more than sixty years, Dorothy was a devoted communicant of Saint Mary’s Church, where her faith guided every part of her life. She also had a long-standing commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to which she generously donated her time and resources. Above all, she treasured her loving family. She delighted in gathering everyone together, especially during the holidays, and took great joy in memorable Christmas and Easter celebrations. Friends and family will fondly remember her legendary Fourth of July pool parties. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, tending to the flowers that adorned her yard in Norton, cooking and baking specialty cakes. She particularly liked vacationing in New Hampshire, formerly owning a chalet in Bartlett, New Hampshire. She will always be remembered for the special place she had in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dog, Coco. She is survived by her devoted children, Joseph P. DeNicola of Norton, Richard A. DeNicola and his wife Mary of Falmouth and Karen A. Weeks and her husband Scott of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Joseph, David, John, Christopher and Megan and the great grandmother of Jace, Rita and Allysia. She was the dear sister of the late Catherine Trulli. Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited, will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30th at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. A Celebration of Life will take place at Saint Mary’s Church at 12:00 P.M., feel free to join us even if you are unable to attend the Funeral Mass. Burial will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), a cause she held close to her heart.
